One thing that you will
do all day, every day, is notify the nurses and CNAs/PCAs of:
New Admissions.
This is when you are notified that a new patient from the Emergency Room will be coming to your unit and that they are being assigned to a specific nurse.
Returning Patient.
This is when a patient returns to the unit after having a procedure
performed.
Transfer to or From.
This is when there is an order to transfer a patient from your unit to another or when you are notified that a patient is to be transferred to your
unit. You will let the nurse know either way.
Discharge.
This is when the doctor enters an order to discharge the patient home to a
skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation facility, hospice, etc.
